As the Chairman of the Advisory Board of First Avenue Partners LLP, Sir Martin Jacomb who was knighted in 1985 for services to the City, brings a great depth of experience and wisdom to the Partnership.
Sir Martin was Chairman of Barclays de Zoete Wedd from 1986 to 1991 and simultaneously was Deputy Chairman of Barclays Bank plc until his retirement from the bank in 1993. He was a Director of The Bank of England from 1986 to 1995 and Chairman of Postel Investment Management from 1991 to 1995.
Sir Martin was appointed Chairman of Prudential plc in 1995 from which he retired in 2000. In 2007 he retired from the boards of Rio Tinto plc and Marks & Spencer plc.
Sir Martin was Chairman of the British Council from 1992 to 1998. He was a Trustee of the National Heritage Memorial Fund from 1982 to 1997 and a member of The Committee on Standards in Public Life (The Nolan Committee) from 1994 to 1997. He was also a Director of the Oxford Playhouse Trust.
Sir Martin is presently Chairman Share plc (the Share Centre) and, until 2011, was Chairman of Canary Wharf Group plc.
