Lydia joined First Avenue in 2016 as an Assistant Accountant. Lydia has several years accounting experience within the financial services sector having worked for companies such as Cheyne Capital, Langham Hall and INTL FCStone. She has completed the AAT and ATT qualifications and is currently studying towards gaining ACCA membership. Lydia holds a BA (Hons) from Queen Mary, University of London.
Tavneet is Head of Project Management and Due Diligence. Tavneet spent the majority of her career with Morgan Stanley in London and Hong Kong. Most recently, Tavneet worked with Pioneer Alternative Investments (Hong Kong) as a Senior Analyst in Fund of hedge funds business with responsibility for Asian Hedge Fund Managers. Tavneet received a BSc(Hons) in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Brian is responsible for Private Equity and Real Assets origination in North America. Prior to joining FIRST Avenue, he was Director of Private Equity at Aspiriant, where he managed several private equity and real estate focused fund-of-funds and evaluated direct investment opportunities. Previously, Brian spent eleven years managing the U.S. VC/Buyout fund-of-funds and co-investment platform for LMS Capital, a London-based investment firm. Brian received a B.A. with highest honors from Middlebury College and an M.B.A from Cornell University.
Alexandra joined First Avenue in July 2016 as an Executive Assistant and works extensively with our Senior Partners. Prior to Frist Avenue Alexandra worked as a Team Secretary at Knight Frank from 2013. Alexandra graduated from Oxford Media & Business School in 2013 with Distinction.
Christian serves as a Senior Advisor to FIRSTavenue. Prior to co founding FIRSTavenue, Christian worked principally at GLG Partners LP in London. Christian has developed extensive coverage of Germanic speaking Europe including a particular reach into the family office market. Christian graduated as Diplom Kauffmann from Westfalische Wilhelms-Universitat in Munster.
Phillip Young Wen Binn
Philip sits on the Advisory board of First Avenue Partners LLP and brings with him a wealth of experience in the Asian markets. Mr. Young also serves as the advisor to NOAH Holdings in Shanghai, China and as an independent director on the board of directors of TransGlobe Life Insurance Ltd in Taiwan. Prior to these non-executive positions, Mr. Young was appointed the Chief Investment Officer of multiple life insurance companies located within Mainland China, including the China Pacific Insurance Group and Ping An Insurance Group. Mr. Young has also spent 4 years in Tokyo as the managing director and CIO of Aetna Heiwa Life Insurance Company, and was the director and CIO of MassMutual Japan. In addition to his employment in Japan, Mr. Young has represented large multinational financial companies such as the Bank of America, the Continental Illinois National Bank, and Nomura Asset Management and for multiple local companies within Taiwan. Mr. Young holds an MBA from the University of Chicago. He took an International Investment Management Program in Stanford University in 1989.
Marina is a member of the UK and Ireland institutional sales team. She works alongside John Owens and David Hunter in developing relationships with investment consultants and pension schemes. Prior to First Avenue, Marina was at Pictet Asset Management in a support role on the buy side for Developed Equities. Marina holds a BSc from University College London and an MSc from the University of Edinburgh.
Rachael joined First Avenue in 2009 as a junior PA and progressed to be Executive Assistant. She recently moved into the Campaign Management team, where she is responsible globally for coordinating logistics and administrative aspects of our fundraising campaigns. Rachael has coordinated over 20 global campaigns in recent years. Prior to joining First Avenue, Rachael worked at Houlihan Lokey Investment Bank in the Finance team.
David is Co-Head of Americas Sales and leads all distribution efforts in the Western United States and Northwest Canada. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, he was a Managing Director in the Private Capital Solutions Group at Madison Williams. Previously, was with Deutsche Bank/RREEF in San Francisco, Cohen Esrey Real Estate and BT Commercial Real Estate. David received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and thereafter spent 7 years in the United States Navy flying the F-14 Tomcat.
Jo-Anne joined First Avenue at inception to assist the Partners in setting up the company. She has since moved to become Head of Global Facilities. Prior to First Avenue, Jo-Anne worked at Standard Chartered Bank and Bank of New York and has 20 years experience working in the financial sector.
Paul is Managing Partner. Prior to co-founding First Avenue Partners LLP, Paul worked in the European capital markets principally at Credit Suisse First Boston in London. He has covered investors and run coverage groups across every region of Europe since 1987.
Patricia is a member of the Project Management team where she leads the team in the U.S. and focuses on private fund due diligence and preparing managers for fundraising. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Patricia was a Senior Managing Director at the Forbes Private Capital Group and its predecessor firm Guggenheim Securities where she globally led the Due Diligence/Project Management team. Previously, she was a member of the Marketing and Investor Relations team at Apollo Management and a Vice President in the Alternative Investments Group at JPMorgan Private Bank. Patricia also worked at Evercore Partners and Lehman Brothers. She received a B.A. in U.S. History from Barnard College of Columbia University.
Haroon is responsible for private fund due diligence and preparing mandates for private credit fundraisings. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, he spent 10 years in credit research, project management and risk roles at Unigestion, Avenue Strategic Partners, Tremont Capital, ABN AMRO, Deutsche Bank and KBC Financial Products. He received a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Head of Private Placements
Nick has been raising private capital for funds and direct investments for ten years. Prior to First Avenue, he held similar roles as an independent fundraising adviser and as head of research at Helix Associates. Nick has a post graduate degree in Finance from London Business School.
Lila is responsible for private fund due diligence, campaign management, project administration and managing the interface with First Avenue’s general partner clients. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, she worked at FocusPoint Private Capital Group (formerly known as Forbes Private Capital Group) as an analyst on the Project Management team. Lila received a B.A. in International Affairs from Lafayette College.
Jonathan is Chairman of and provides corporate governance to First Avenue Partners LLP. He has operated in a number of senior roles across Credit Suisse and its predecessor organisations. Most recently, he served as Vice Chairman of Credit Suisse (formerly Credit Suisse First Boston) and Chairman of IG Group plc. Jonathan is a full time operating partner while also serving as Non-Executive Director for Persimmon and Hansa Trust.
Martin is Co-Head of International Sales and responsible for distribution and origination in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to joining First Avenue, Martin was a Managing Director of Blackstone's Hedge Fund Solutions Group were he focused on business development and client relations in Australia and the Pacific Rim. Before joining Blackstone, he was Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Head of Distribution at ING Investment Management Australia, where he was responsible for the coordination of the firm's sales, marketing, and served as a member of ING's Private Equity Investment Committee. Martin has almost 20 years' experience in alternative assets having also worked at Barclays Global Investors and Deutsche Asset Management were he led institutional capital raising for private equity and was a member of the DB Capital Partners investment team. Martin received a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Commerce (Economics) from the University of Wollongong.
Sophie is a member of the project management team. In this capacity, she is responsible for campaign management, project administration and managing the interface with our clients. Sophie joined FIRSTavenue from Ipes where she worked as the London New Business Manager covering client onboarding and business development. Sophie graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with a BA Hons in Politics.
Sacha is a member of the project management team responsible for private equity and infrastructure fundraisings. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Sacha worked at IFC Metropol as an Investment Professional and earlier, at Merrill Lynch in the CEE Mergers and Acquisitions team. Sacha started her career at Lehman Brothers in the European Mergers and Acquisitions team in London. Sacha holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Master's degree from ESSEC Business School in Paris, France.
Francesca is a member of the project management team and primarily works on infrastructure and real estate fundraisings. Francesca joined First Avenue in 2010 initially in the Campaign Management function. Francesca holds an MA (hons) International Relations from University of St Andrews, and is a CAIA Charterholder.
Rachel covers distribution in the Greater China region, alongside Vicky Lai. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Rachel led the marketing and investor relations function at Pinpoint Asset Management. Prior to Pinpoint, Rachel worked for China International Capital Corporation in Hong Kong and Beijing for cross-border investment mandates. Rachel received an MBA from Northeastern University, and a BBA with double majors in Finance / Economics and a minor in Mathematics from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Further, she is a CFA Charter holder.
Czarina joined First Avenue in April 2016 as a Team Assistant and is also responsible for running the San Francisco Office. Prior to joining the First Avenue team, Czarina was working at a corporate law firm in administration. Czarina holds a B.A. from California State University, Stanislaus.
Alan J. Haig
Alan joined First Avenue in September 2007 from Cambridge Place Investment Management (CPIM), a specialist credit-oriented investment manager. Prior to that he worked for Citigroup Asset Management in their long-only investment management business. Sometime CFO of international Financial Markets Trading. Alan has an MSc from The London Business School, is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Securities Institute.
Michael is Co-Head of the FIRSTavenue’s business in Asia and is responsible for project management and origination in the region. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, he was Managing Director at Park Hill Group, based in Hong Kong in a similar role. Previously, Michael was a Director in the UBS Private Funds Group, based in London, where he started his career in 2000. Michael received an B.A. in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a M.Sc. in Economics from London School of Economics.
Senior Executive Assistant
Emily is Senior Executive Assistant to Paul Buckley, CEO and Jonathan Davie, Chairman. Emily joined First Avenue in August 2014 as Executive Assistant to the Senior Partners with 10 years' experience in the finance industry; prior to working with First Avenue Emily lived in Brisbane, Australia where she worked as an Executive Assistant for a boutique financial planning office.
David is responsible for First Avenue's consultancy relationships. With over 20 years' in institutional investment consulting, fund manager research, selection and ratings, David qualified as an actuary with Mercer. At Aon, he was responsible for UK asset-liability management and worldwide manager research. David also advised S&P on Asset Manager and Sponsor Covenant Assessment Services. He sits on the advisory council of AIMSE International. David holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computing from King's College, University of London.
Sir Martin Jacomb
Chairman of the Advisory Board
As the Chairman of the Advisory Board of First Avenue Partners LLP, Sir Martin Jacomb who was knighted in 1985 for services to the City, brings a great depth of experience and wisdom to the Partnership.
Sir Martin was Chairman of Barclays de Zoete Wedd from 1986 to 1991 and simultaneously was Deputy Chairman of Barclays Bank plc until his retirement from the bank in 1993. He was a Director of The Bank of England from 1986 to 1995 and Chairman of Postel Investment Management from 1991 to 1995.
Sir Martin was appointed Chairman of Prudential plc in 1995 from which he retired in 2000. In 2007 he retired from the boards of Rio Tinto plc and Marks & Spencer plc.
Sir Martin was Chairman of the British Council from 1992 to 1998. He was a Trustee of the National Heritage Memorial Fund from 1982 to 1997 and a member of The Committee on Standards in Public Life (The Nolan Committee) from 1994 to 1997. He was also a Director of the Oxford Playhouse Trust.
Sir Martin is presently Chairman Share plc (the Share Centre) and, until 2011, was Chairman of Canary Wharf Group plc.
Vicky is responsible for the coverage of the UK and greater China. Vicky joined First Avenue Partners from Hundredstone, a corporate finance firm engaged in facilitating China and European fund placement, where she was a founding partner. Vicky is a qualified solicitor in England & Wales and has previously worked at Linklaters and Norton Rose. Vicky speaks and writes fluent Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Vicky received her honors degree in law by Zhong Nan University of Economics and Law, and was awarded her Master's degree by the University of Manchester.
Chris is Global Head of Private Funds Origination and is also responsible for maintaining a number of senior investor relationships in Europe. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, he was with Park Hill Group, where he was a Managing Partner and senior coverage officer for Europe and Asia. Previously, Chris was an Executive Director at UBS in their Private Funds Group. He received a B.A. in European Business Administration from Middlesex University, a Diplom Betriebswirt from the Fachhochschule in Reutlingen, Germany and an MSc. in Finance from London Business School.
Chief Financial Officer
Kate joined First Avenue in June 2008 initially in the fund accounting team before moving to the corporate accounting area. Kate started her career at Martin Currie Investment Management in Edinburgh, a specialist investment manager, where she was the Client Service Accountant for a variety of major offshore funds, including hedge funds, Asian based equity funds and US Mutual Funds. Kate has an MA in Accountancy & Finance and is a Certified Chartered accountant.
Head of Communications
Ayesha is responsible for corporate communications. She manages the firms branding, publicity strategies, marketing technologies and events globally. Ayesha joined First Avenue in 2012 as Senior EA to Jonathan Davie, Chairman and Paul Buckley, CEO. Prior to joining First Avenue Ayesha worked in both the private equity and investment banking arenas for 10 years. Ayesha holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of London.
Justin is a member of the project management team focusing on general partner origination, private fund due diligence and preparing managers for fundraising. Previously, Justin spent ten years in senior manager research roles at Cliffwater LLC, The Bogdahn Group and Segal Rogerscasey. Justin's primary research focus has been on private credit, real estate, infrastructure and distressed opportunities. Justin received a B.B.A. from Adelphi University.
Laura is a member of the administrative team and is responsible for running the New York office. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Laura worked in event sales and execution for The New York Mets. Laura received her B.A. from Eastern Kentucky University.
Dayna joined First Avenue in February 2016 as a Team Assistant and is responsible for the management of the Front of House in our London office. Dayna holds a diploma in Marketing Communications. Prior to working at First Avenue Dayna lived in Queenstown, New Zealand where she worked in administration.
Hannah joins as member of the project management team, focusing on campaign management. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Hannah worked in recruitment and logistics for a large US health system. Hannah received her B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Frédéric is responsible for the coverage of Scandinavia, France and Southern Europe. Frédéric's background includes time at Old Mutual Asset Managers (OMAM) in London in charge of Hedge Fund Sales to European Investors. Prior to OMAM, Frédéric worked for Barclays Global Investors where he was in charge of Business Development for France and Iberia across all of BGI products and solutions. Frederic has a Master in International Business Management from CESEM (Reims) and ICADE Madrid.
Jenny is responsible for distribution in the Western US and Western Canada. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, she was with Partners Group, a global private markets investment manager, where she was Head of US Consultant Relations. Jenny began her career at Ernst & Young in the Transaction Advisory Services practice, performing financial due diligence for corporate and private equity merger and acquisition transactions. She received a B.S. in Accounting from Santa Clara University. Jenny is also a CPA.
Clive is Head of Private Equity and primarily responsible for origination and marketing of private equity funds. Clive was formerly a Managing Director at Helix Associates and Co-Head of the Fund of Funds Group at Goldman Sachs covering Europe and Asia. Prior to Goldman Sachs Clive worked in the Private Equity Group at Merrill Lynch.
Simi is a member of the campaign management team and is responsible for the coordination of the administrative aspects of our fundraising campaigns and our internal processes. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Simi worked within the marketing department at Livebookings, an online marketing and technology company.
John concentrates on the UK and Ireland institutional markets. John began his career as a pensions manager before moving to consultancy where he provided advice on all aspects of pension fund benefit design and investment strategy. For the last 20 years John has worked for a variety of asset managers responsible for investment sales, client service and consulting relationship teams across a wide range of market segments. John has a B.A. in Law and Economics from the University of Strathclyde.
Eugene is a member of the project management team. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Eugene covered healthcare services in the equity research departments at BB&T Capital Markets and Madison Williams. Prior to that, Eugene was a Technology Analyst at Friedman, Billings, Ramsey and Prudential Securities. Eugene holds a B.S. with concentrations in finance and management information systems from Binghamton University.
Phil is Co-Chairman of First Avenue Partners LLP. He formerly was a Partner of Willis Stein & Partners and has served in senior roles at Credit Suisse, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Merrill Lynch and Kidder Peabody. Phil also serves as Chairman of iCapital Network, Inc.
Brian is responsible for distribution in Southeast US. Brian joined FIRSTavenue Partners from Highland Capital Management, a global alternative credit manager, where he was the director of business development. He began his career at Ernst & Young. Brian graduated with an M.S. and a B.A. from Texas A&M University.
Rebecca is a member of the project management team and head of campaign management for ex-US. In this capacity, she is responsible for campaign management, project administration and managing the interface with our clients. In addition, her role is to enhance and institutionalise our understanding of investors. Rebecca joined FIRSTavenue from Wood & Company where she worked as Marketing Co-ordinator for the Equities division. Rebecca graduated from University of Glasgow with BaHons in Business and Management.
Rachel is a member of the project management team and head of campaign management for the Americas. In this capacity, she is responsible for campaign management, project administration and managing the interface with our clients. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Rachel worked in the private capital placement group at Madison Williams and previously for the European luxury goods conglomerate, LVMH. She holds a B.A. in International Studies with a Minor in French from the University of California at Irvine. Recently re-located from our New York office, Rachel is now based in San Francisco.
Group General Counsel
Stefan is Group General Counsel. Stefan has practiced law for over 25 years in the US and the UK. Stefan has an extensive background in domestic and international capital markets, funds, mergers and acquisitions and general business transactions. Stefan worked with Mayer Brown in Chicago from 1990 to 1994, then in the London office until 1999. Before starting his own firm in 2003, Stefan was the Managing Partner of the London office of Fredrikson & Byron. Stefan received a B.S. with distinction from the University of Wisconsin and received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School.
Ben is the Global Head of Credit where he oversees the origination and distribution of all credit funds. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue Partners, Ben was with Albourne Partners, where he led the Firm's coverage of private credit. Prior to Albourne, he was a management consultant at Blue Ridge Partners, where he focused on company-level due diligence for private equity firms. He began his career at PWC. Ben graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Florida and was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge.
Paddy leads First Avenue’s distribution activities in the Middle East and covers select institutions in the UK and Netherlands, with a focus on private equity and real asset mandates. He joined First Avenue after seven years with Zouk Capital, a London-based manager of growth capital and infrastructure funds, where, as the Investor Relations Manager, he was responsible for fundraising and company marketing. He holds a BA in Russian Studies from the University of Bristol, UK, and qualifications from the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
Tamara joined First avenue in 2015 as Assistant Accountant. Prior to joining First Avenue Tamara spent several years within finance in the media and arts industry. Tamara is currently studying for her CIMA.
Daniel is a member of the project management team. Prior to joining FIRSTavenue, Daniel was responsible for investor relations at Frog Capital, a technology-focused growth capital fund. Previously, Daniel worked at Probitas Partners where he focused on European private equity fundraisings. Daniel started his career as an M&A lawyer with Latham & Watkins having received his LLB in law from the College of Law, London. Daniel graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in History & Politics from the University of York.
Una joined First Avenue in 2013 as a company accountant. Una Started her career at PwC where she worked as a Senior Associate in the Asset Management department, auditing a variety of clients in the hedge fund and alternative investments space. Una holds a BA in Business & Economics from Trinity College Dublin and is a Chartered Accountant.
Lisa joined First Avenue in June 2016 as an Executive Assistant and works extensively with our Senior Partners. Prior to First Avenue Lisa was Office Manager at Toscafund Asset Management. Lisa graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2014 with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology.
Kaz covers investors in Japan, Korea and Australia. Prior to joining First Avenue, Kaz was a Director of Nomura Funds Research responsible for private equity fund investments. Prior to Nomura, he had a range of experiences in manager research, investment product marketing and pension advisory at Watson Wyatt and ABN AMRO. Kaz holds an B.S. from Tokyo University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Daniel is responsible for the coverage of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Daniel was formerly at Citigroup's Alternatives Distribution Group in London where he was responsible for German speaking Europe. He planned and executed capital raising campaigns for a number of private equity, infrastructure and real estate funds. Daniel received a B.B.A. from the Faculty of Business Darmstadt.
